SCT @ Your School

Theatre is more than what you see on stage. Young people who engage with theatre acquire skills essential to their social and emotional development: a healthy sense of personal identity, the ability to empathize with others, and imaginative ways of thinking. With SCT at Your School Programs, you can bring theatre directly to your classroom. SCT's expert Teaching Artists will lead your class in exciting and interactive activities that use drama and kinesthetic learning techniques to explore a wide variety of subjects including language arts, social justice, science, SEL, and of course, acting! All of these programs are carefully created to fulfill Washington State Learning Standards, and directly support what you do in the classroom every day. Field Trips & Dramatic Connections Workshops
Have you booked a field trip with us?
Consider adding a Dramatic Connections Workshop for your students to enhance their learning experience! This wrap-around education program is a classroom experience designed to enhance students’ engagement with what they see on stage during their field trip to SCT. The workshop will have students on their feet, stretching their imaginations, while deepening their knowledge about the characters, setting, and themes of the play.
The workshop curriculum is developed and presented by our Teaching Artists in the form of a one hour pre- or post-show workshop (or both!). The workshop can happen in your classroom at your school, or in the building at SCT (available depending on class size) and would ideally take place within a week of your field trip date.
Program Offerings
Workshops
Our wonderful Teaching Artists can teach any of our curricula as Workshops in your school. These are typically 1- or 1.5-hour sessions of instruction and can be expanded into a series of up to four sessions. Whether you’re choosing from our selection of curricula or adapting it to fit your classroom studies, we are committed to bringing a stellar theatre education to your classroom.
Residencies
Interested in bringing longer term programming to your school? Our Residency programs have at least five classes booked and let students dive more deeply into course material with their Teaching Artists. The majority of our curricula can function in both Workshop or Residency form – please reach out to us with questions
After School Programs
All of our curricula can serve students through after-school programs too! We use a price-per-student model when organizing after-school residencies, starting at a cost of $26 per hour, per child. If your program requires travel outside of Seattle city limits, or additional administrative support from teaching artists, the cost per student will increase. Contact our School Partnership and Programs team at schoolprograms@sct.org to discuss bringing SCT to your after-school enrichment program.
Curriculum Options
Existing Curriculum

Create Your Own Lesson
SCT can work with you to design theatre-infused lessons around any subject that fits your needs. Curate an experience to support your specific learning goals and meet your students where they are. Our "Create Your Own Lesson" experience pairs you with a Teaching Artist to build a workshop or residency specifically designed to develop your unique curriculum.
