Financial Assistance

SCT is committed to providing theatre and theatre education to all children regardless of a family’s financial situation. Because of this, we offer payment plans and need-based scholarships to our families. In addition, we offer Blue Star military and veteran discounts. Our financial aid offerings are made possible by the family of Adrienne Dillard-Coons, passionate Drama School student and avid lover of the stage. To learn more about Adrienne and her family, see the About section below.

Scholarships

Scholarships are granted on a case-by-case basis to those families who demonstrate a financial need, and who would be otherwise unable to participate in our classes. Because of budget limitations, we are generally only able to cover one class per student, per session in each eligible family. Applications for scholarships are on a rolling basis, but scholarships are limited so please submit your application as early as possible. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified of your financial aid decision approximately one week after submitting your application. Unless prior arrangements are made with the Drama School, the remaining balance of tuition, if any, must be paid in full prior to the start of class.

Applications accepted on a rolling basis, subject to availability. Click here to view the application.

Payment Plans

Payment Plans may be  used by anyone, regardless of financial need. This option is available to families who prefer to split their balance into two or three installments. No application is required; if you would like to arrange a payment plan, email the Drama School at dramaschool@sct.org. Unless prior arrangements are made with the Drama School, the balance of tuition, if any, must be paid in full prior to the start of class.

About Adrienne Dillard-Coons

Young Adrienne Coons first started performing as part of the Bellevue School District theatre program. Adrienne quickly fell in love with acting and in 1983 began to participate in Drama School at SCT. Adrienne’s determination and dedication were an inspiration for the faculty and students alike.

In 1984 at the age of 11, Adrienne died suddenly of an asthma attack. Her mother and SCT Board Member, Marilyn Dillard, recognized the joy that participating in theatre provided Adrienne and wanted other students in the community to share that experience. In 1985, she established the Adrienne Coons Memorial Fund to honor her daughter. SCT was the recipient of generous annual gifts that allowed many others to experience the joy of theatre and arts education.

In 2022, the Adrienne Coons Memorial Fund provided proceeds given to Seattle Children’s Theatre. This substantial gift has been earmarked with an endowment to provide annual funds for Drama School Scholarships and has supported many upgrades to our learning spaces, where many of our students take their first drama classes with SCT.
