Theatre is more than what you see on stage. Young people who engage with theatre acquire skills essential to their social and emotional development: a healthy sense of personal identity, the ability to empathize with others, and imaginative ways of thinking. With SCT programming, community organizations such as libraries, community centers, nonprofits, and more can bring theatre directly to your community. SCT's expert Teaching Artists will lead with exciting and interactive activities that use drama and kinesthetic learning techniques to explore a wide variety of subjects including language arts, social justice, science, social emotional learning, and of course, acting! All of these programs are carefully created to fulfill Common Core Standards and EALRs. Continuing scrolling to learn about our programs.
Community Days
Community Days are an opportunity to bring members of the community you serve to an SCT show at a pay-what-you-can ticket amount. Each Community Day also includes a free post-show experience immediately following the show. Experiences are approximately 15 minutes long and include opportunities such as an onstage tour or meet-and-greet with the actors.
If you’re interested in having a Community Day please reach out to communityengagement@sct.org for more information.
Curriculum Options
Existing Curriculum
Amplify your program with an interdisciplinary experience that infuses theatre with core subject matter and supports youth’s social emotional learning. This tried-and-true curriculum has been curated by SCT's Master Teaching Artists and is ready to bring to your community at the drop of a hat.
Create Your Own Lesson
SCT can work with you to design theatre-infused lessons around any subject that fits your needs. Curate an experience to support your specific learning goals and meet your youth where they are. Our "Create Your Own Lesson" experience pairs you with a Teaching Artist to build a workshop or residency specifically designed to develop your unique programs.
