Community Partners
Coyote Central provides creative classes and public art opportunities to young people. Our mission is to spark creativity in young people, putting tools in their hands to build skills and forge their futures.
Reading Partners Seattle, is a children’s social justice literacy nonprofit that provides one-on-one tutoring to students who need extra support with reading. We partner with elementary schools in underserved communities and mobilize compassionate volunteer tutors to support students with the foundational reading skills they need to succeed in school. If you are interested in volunteering for as little as one hour a week, please visit our website.
Read to Succeed: Book Swap

Looking for a new favorite book? Before each show, ticket holders can meet representatives from Reading Partners and participate in Read to Succeed: Book Swap. Bring as many children’s books as you would like to swap for books that are in the Reading Partners’ library. Families that qualify can also learn how their young readers can be supported with tutoring programs through Reading Partners.

Aaron Bagley is a human man who draws for a living. He likes to draw what he observes (people, boats, cats), and what he experiences (dreams, feelings, life events). His work has been featured in Illustoria Magazine, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Seattle’s The Stranger, The Seattle Weekly, and many more. Above all else, Aaron loves collaborating with his wife Jessixa. Their first book, Vincent Comes Home, was published in 2018. He lives in Seattle, WA. Instagram: @aaronbagley Website: aaronbagley.com

Jessixa Bagley is an award-winning children’s author, illustrator, and comix maker. She’s known for her emotional themes inspired by her own experiences. Jessixa is most recognized for her children’s books: BOATS FOR PAPA, LAUNDRY DAY, and DAISY as well as her graphic novel DUEL that she co-created with her husband, Aaron. Laura Knetzger is the author and illustrator of several graphic novels, including the Ignatz-award nominated Bug Boys. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts. Laura is also the illustrator of the Bigfoot and Nessie graphic novel series. She is a regular contributor to the yearly ShortBox Comics Fair. Laura is also the author of several books for young readers and countless zines. She has kept a daily diary comic every day since 2018. She lives and works in Seattle. Colleen Frakes grew up on a prison island (really!) then moved to the mainland to attend The Center for Cartoon Studies. She was awarded a 2007 Xeric Grant for her first graphic novel Tragic Relief and in 2009 won an Ignatz Award for her second book, Woman King. Her new book Knots (Harper Alley) was awarded the Junior Library Guild Gold Standard. Colleen has created comics for The Nib, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dark Horse, and many others. Darin Shuler is the author/illustrator of the early reader graphic novels, Dog & Hat and the Lost Polka Dots, and Dog & Hat and the Lunar Eclipse Picnic. He has been self-publishing comics and zines, including the Xeric Award-winning series Castle & Wood, for over 20 years, and has led drawing and comics workshops for kids from Seattle to Gambia.
