Show Me...

WashMasks Mutual Aid has been gathering new books for children and youth of farmworkers in Eastern and Northern Washington. Their goal is to provide one thousand new books to each region, bringing cultural and creative joy to the children of those who feed us.
Check out their requested book wishlist via Bookshop.

Throughout the run of Luchadora!, bring a new or gently used book to contribute to our book donation drive.

“We selected these works in an effort to show children themselves as the main character in their own story. We wanted to select inclusive works, from the fantastical to the grounded written by Black, Indigenous, and Latine authors. We believe that it is vital for children to be exposed to as many different realities and possibilities so they can dream their biggest dreams.” (Quetzie Taborga-Reyes, WashMasks volunteer & book list curator)

Mission Statement

WashMasks Mutual Aid works with communities to provide care, creative joy, and community to Washington farmworkers, their families, and other BIPOC rural communities. We believe farmworkers and rural communities deserve safety, equity, and dignity.

Who Are We?

WashMasks was formed in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. WashMasks is an all-volunteer mutual aid consisting of artists, classroom teachers, public school administrators, activists, and the extended arts community from across Washington state. The communities we work with deserve support, dignity, and advocacy. WashMasks works in solidarity with rural community activists, schools, organizations, educators, farmworker unions, migrant youth, and farmworkers themselves. WashMasks aims to amplify and support these communities and their leaders.

What Is Mutual Aid?

Mutual aid is an act of solidarity among communities and neighbors. Mutual aid work happens when communities work collaboratively in addressing community needs.

Want to contribute another way?

WashMasks is entirely volunteer lead and run-- this work is only possible via community participation. There are so many ways that you can participate via your time, energy, and/or wheels. Check the link for more specific information on volunteering. Thank you in advance and look forward to you joining us with care, community, and creative joy for the families and individuals who feed us all.
