FAQs
As students depend on their scene partners, class attendance is important. However, if your student will be late or needs to miss a class due to an illness please alert the Drama School as soon as possible at dramaschool@sct.org or by calling 206-859-4079.
Unfortunately, our teaching artists’ schedules are pre-determined and we are unable to accommodate make-up classes.
Yes, Drama School sends confirmation letters approximately three weeks before the start of a class and first day letters on the business day before the first day of a class. Be sure to check the email associated with your account to receive information about your student’s upcoming class.
Most SCT Drama School classes are process-oriented and do not culminate in a performance. However, time is set aside on the last day of many classes for students to share the process and what they have learned. We invite friends and family to attend. If your student’s class is hosting a last day sharing, you will receive more information from the teaching artist before the last day of class.
A kidcode is a one or two-word “password” that will be asked for during pick-up by SCT staff to ensure all students are leaving with an authorized adult. Setting a kidcode is part of the registration process; if you do not remember your student’s kidcode, you can email dramaschool@sct.org or ask an SCT staff member at drop-off on the first day.
Students may bring a personal electronic device to class as long as they only use it during break times or with their teaching artist’s permission.
SCT Teaching Artists may occasionally indicate that a class could benefit from additional technology support from personal electronic devices (like cell phones, tablets, or laptops). In this case, our administrative team will notify families prior to the first day of class. Personal devices are never a requirement for classes and bringing them is optional. Alternative solutions will be offered if a family does not wish to provide a device.
Students are required to keep their devices secure by:
- Keeping it Private – Protecting the username and password of the device.
- Keeping it to Yourself – Devices, and any accompanying accessories, are to be used only by the student they belong to.
- Keeping it Safe – When not in use, devices are to be stored in the student’s classroom with the student’s belongings. Devices are not to be used during non-instructional time.
SCT is not liable for any damage to any personal devices or belongings. Please reach out to dramaschool@sct.org with any questions about personal devices or this policy.
MASKS
While masking this school year will be optional, SCT welcomes and encourages staff and students to continue mask wearing if that is their preference.
If 1 or more individuals test positive for COVID, all individuals in that camp must wear well-fitting masks inside the building (when not actively eating or drinking) for the next 10 days following exposure. If 3 or more individuals test positive for COVID within 7 consecutive days, SCT will require that all staff and students wear well-fitting masks inside the building (when not actively eating or drinking) for the next 10 days following the most recent exposure.
SCT will track King County’s Community Risk Level as reported on the CDC website:
If our local Community Risk Level reaches High (Red), all individuals will wear well-fitting masks inside the building until the Risk Level lowers down Medium (Yellow).
SCT will have KN-95 masks available for both adults and kids.
ILLNESS OR POSITIVE TEST
Please STAY HOME and self-isolate for a minimum of 5 Days from the date of the positive test result, or 5 days from symptom onset. If you develop symptoms after testing positive, your 5-day isolation period should start over. Day 0 is your first day of symptoms. Please follow universal masking, physical distancing, hand hygiene, clean high touch surfaces, close toilet lid before flushing, etc. while you are in isolation. Family/roommates who are unable to distance from you should wear a mask, and wear eye protection to minimize any additional exposure risk.
You may come back to SCT automatically on or after Day 6 from onset of your first symptoms if:
- You have isolated for a minimum of 5 days from symptom onset or positive test whichever is earlier, AND
- Your symptoms have significantly resolved, for example, no uncontrolled cough or shortness of breath. (Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation); AND
- You have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medications
Exposure (Contact with someone with COVID-19, in a way that increases the likelihood of getting infected with the virus.)
If you were exposed to COVID-19 outside of camp and are up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations:
-
-
- You do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms.
- Even if you don’t develop symptoms, get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.
- If you were exposed to COVID-19 outside of camp and are NOT up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations:
- Stay home and quarantine for at least 5 full days.
- Wear a well-fitting mask if you must be around others in your home.
- Even if you don’t develop symptoms, get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

VIRTUAL CLASS CONTINGENCY
SCT maintains the right to transition all classes to a virtual setting based on the number of active cases in the region and our community, or if for any other reason SCT feels that in-person classes are no longer safe for our students and staff.8
