Linda Hartzell, Artistic Director

Linda Hartzell has been the Artistic Director of SCT and its Education Programs since 1984. She received her BA in Education from the University of Washington. She has directed over 45 plays for SCT, over 35 of which were world premieres, including The Red Badge of Courage, Holes, Pink and Say, Still Life with Iris, The Odyssey, Afternoon of the Elves, and The Rememberer. She recently directed The Grapes of Wrath at Intiman Theatre. Ms. Hartzell was formerly on the board of Theatre Communications Group, and she is a former vice president of the United States Center for the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ/USA). She was recently honored with the prestigious Gregory Falls Sustained Achievement Award, given by Theatre Puget Sound, and the Mayor’s Arts Award. She has also been inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Theatre. She was a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from UW College of Arts and Sciences in 1994.

Mary Ann Ehlshlager, Managing Director

Mary Ann Ehlshlager joined SCT in June 2012. Ms. Ehlshlager, originally from Roanoke, VA, most recently served as Executive Director at Delaware Theatre Company in Wilmington DE.  Ehlshlager comes to SCT with over 18 years of leadership experience within some of America's largest and most notable regional theatres, including the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Arena Stage in Washington, DC and New York's Roundabout Theatre Company and Pearl Theatre Company. Ehlshlager has served in various leadership capacities throughout her career in not-for-profit resident theatre companies, managing financial stabilization and operational transitions at the Delaware Theatre Company and Off-Broadway’s Pearl Theatre Company, as well as serving as Project Manager for the Guthrie Theater’s $125 million new facility, which opened in Minneapolis in 2006.  A strong advocate for collaboration within the arts and the non-profit arena, Ehlshlager is also a founding Board member of the Delaware Arts Alliance as well as the Belize Humane Association and the Alliance Against AIDS.  Ehlshlager graduated with a BA from the University of Virginia and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.
