Access performances provide patrons with the opportunity to see a show that addresses multiple access needs at once. The Access performance will feature sensory sensitive accommodations, a skilled and professional ASL interpreter at the front of the stage, and live audio description narration.
Please check in with Front of House staff members if you need assistance accessing any support resources.
You may select specific seats during the purchasing process online or with assistance from our Box Office team over the phone or through email at 206.441.3322 or tickets@sct.org.
- ASL Interpretation: look for the ASL interpretation symbol when selecting seats for the best view of the interpreter and the stage
- Audio Description: you can access audio description via a headset from any seat in the theatre
- Movement & Technology rows: we reserve seating areas for movement and the use of technology. These seats are available for anyone to use during the performance and may not be reserved in advance.
Each Relaxed or Sensory Sensitive Performance incorporates special modifications to accommodate audiences with sensory needs. These include, but are not limited to:
- changes to the performance like increased lighting in the seating area throughout the performance
- relaxed theatre rules like use of electronic devices and fidget toys welcome
- support for audience members like prompt sheets for audiences to prepare for the show, and trained staff on hand to provide assistance
To learn more about these and additional accommodations, visit our Sensory Sensitive performances page or contact the Box Office at 206.441.3322 or tickets@sct.org.
Our ASL interpreted performances feature skilled, professional interpreters. A special reserved seating area in the theatre allows Deaf and Hard of Hearing patrons a great view of both the interpreters and the stage.
Audio Description (AD) is a narration service that turns the production into an auditory experience. Using headphones, visually impaired audience members hear live description of the visual aspects of theatre, helping them to share in the experience of live theatre more fully. Audio Description is given using concise, objective descriptions to depict new scenes, settings, costumes, body language, and sight gags.
Visit the Front of House station just inside the lobby entrance to check out a free headset. You may access the audio description from any seat in the theatre.
