The story is familiar to many parents and children, and it all starts so simply. Boy decided to stay home when his mom went to visit Aunt Rose. It’s only a few hours and he does have the new Jungleman of the Amazon comic, after all. With a bag of cookies and a good spot in the yard to read, everything seemed so perfect. And then…He came. Mouse. He may be adorable but he is full of questions. And energy. And he’s hungry. What can Boy do but give Mouse a cookie? Wouldn’t you do the same thing? But, if you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to want a glass of milk…

“A celebration of physical comedy, much like our productions of Go, Dog. Go!; Peter and the Wolf; and Busytown, that showcases the joy and endless possibilities when you relish the unexpected. This play, as the book from which it is adapted, is a wonderful way for parents and kids to connect, to share the love of literature and fun.” – SCT Artistic Director Linda Hartzell

Cast and Design Team

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie brings together two Seattle favorites that recently shared the stage in last season’s I Was a Rat! (also directed by Giomi): Don Darryl Rivera as Mouse and MJ Sieber as Boy. In addition to I Was a Rat!, Rivera appeared in last season’s The Wizard of Oz and was the puppet coach for Goodnight Moon. Sieber appeared in last year’s Pharaoh Serket and the Lost Stone of Fire and Night of the Living Dead. The actors also worked together this summer in Strawberry Theatre Workshop’s critically-acclaimed production of The Elephant Man, with Sieber in the titular role and Rivera composing and providing musical accompaniment.

Joining Giomi to round out the production team are Composer and SCT Resident Sound Designer Chris R. Walker, Scenic Designer Jennifer Zeyl, Costume Designer Heidi Ganser, Lighting Designer Robert J. Aguilar, and Projection Designer and SCT Technical Director Michael K. Hase. Rob Burgess understudies.
