Heart of Washington Food Donation Drive
November 15 – December 5, 2025
This fall, Seattle Children’s Theatre will be partnering with WashMasks Mutual Aid in their #HeartofWashington campaign in support of Washington farmworkers and their families. This annual drive (now in its 6th year!) will be supporting the delivery of 300 cultural food boxes for farm-working families in Ephrata, Mount Vernon, Sunnyside, and Wenatchee. With food access needs on the rise, community efforts make powerful differences.
Washington’s phenomenal farmworkers are behind nearly all we eat and drink. Theirs are the hands that make our favorite rainy-day soup or chilled drink on a hot afternoon possible. Let us come together as a community to show our gratitude to those who feed us.
Food Donation List:
Ibarra (Mexican hot chocolate)
Masa Harina (Maseca is a popular brand)
Dried Chiles (Colorado, New Mexico, Guajillo, or California)
Pancake Mix
Canned Tuna
Chicken Bouillon
Rice
Canned Coconut Milk
Canned Hominy
Why are there specific food items being asked for?
We gather specific cultural foods due to requests of the communities we partner with. This honors their heritage and shows care and respect. Food is culture. Food is healing. Food is love.
What is mutual aid?
Mutual aid is an act of solidarity among communities and neighbors. Mutual aid work happens when communities work collaboratively in addressing community needs.
What is WashMasks Mutual Aid?

WashMasks Mutual Aid is an all-volunteer collective that practices solidarity for migrant and Indigenous farmworkers in Washington state through creative joy and urban-rural collaboration. We work to provide PPE, culturally responsive food, art supplies, wildfire relief, and other mutual aid support to Washington farmworkers and their families. WashMasks volunteers collaborate with rural community activists, schools, organizations, educators, unions, youth, and farmworkers themselves. WashMasks aims to amplify and support these communities and their leaders believing that farmworkers deserve safety, equity, and dignity. For more information on other ways to get involved or volunteer, check out the WashMasks linktr.ee or follow @washmasks on Instagram.
