Youth Company
In this performance-based program, students will work side-by-side with local theatre professionals including directors, choreographers, and designers to bring a fully staged musical to life. Through rehearsals and creative collaboration, young performers will build acting, singing, and movement skills while gaining a behind-the-scenes understanding of how professional theatre is made. The experience culminates in performances on Seattle Children's Theatre's mainstage, complete with lights, sound, and costume magic!

Important Note: We are hosting a joint audition process in partnership with the Seattle Rep. Young performers auditioning will be considered for both A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS with SCT and The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever with Seattle Rep. No performer will be cast in both shows, but any performer may be selected for either show.
A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS

Step into the spotlight on Seattle Children's Theatre's professional stages for our youth production of A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books, the jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.
This whimsical show follows two great friends—the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad—through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special.

In-person auditions will be held at SCT on Thursday, September 17, 2026 and Friday, September 18, 2026 with 1-hour group audition slots from 4:30pm–7:30pm.
Students in 3rd–8th grades can audition. Up to 20 will be selected for the cast.

What you’ll need for your audition:
- You do not need to have previous performance experience. However, if you have been on stage before, create a short document/resume that has the name of the show and the role you played to give to our director. You can also include any drama, music, or dance classes you’ve been in. That’s helpful to know, too!
- 16 bars or 30-45 seconds of a song. The song should be upbeat and not put too much stress on your voice. Make sure it’s in a range that feels comfortable for you. If you are not sure what to sing, we suggest “Happy Birthday.” You must bring some sheet music for us to play on the piano to accompany you. Need help finding sheet music? - We will also be using this time to play some theatre games! These are a chance to have fun, explore some character/acting choices and get to know other people in the room. You do not need to prepare anything for the theatre games; we will explain them when you arrive.
What you’ll need for callbacks:
- Callbacks are in invited second round of auditions that will occur in person at SCT on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00am–2:00pm. We will notify auditoners the evening of their first audition if they receive a callback. Please note: Callbacks must be in-person and not all auditioners may receive a callback.
- Please bring a water bottle with you and wear easy-to-move-in clothing.
- You will not need to have anything prepared for callbacks. We will teach you what you’re doing when you come!
The cast announcement will be on Monday, September 21, 2026, with registration opening online immediately following.
Before you audition, please confirm that you can attend dates in the rehearsal schedule. Cast members can have no more than two absences before November 29, 2026, and are required to attend 100% of the schedule starting December 1, 2026, through to tech week and all performances.
Rehearsals:
- Begin Saturday, October 3, 2026, through December 13, 2026
- Weekday rehearsals: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 4:30pm–7:00pm
- Saturday rehearsals: 12:30pm–4:30pm
- No rehearsals November 23–28, 2026

To make participation in Youth Company accessible, we’ve adopted a voluntary tiered pricing structure. Once cast, you and your family can choose the tuition tier level right for you. We will keep tuition information confidential. The tuition level you choose will not influence casting in any way.
$925 This tuition level most accurately accounts for the true cost of this production, including royalties, director’s fees, set and costume materials, and the professional personnel who work behind-the-scenes to ensure the class and production go smoothly.
$800 This is our traditional tuition rate for this program. Paying this amount will go a long way towards helping cover the costs of this production.
$675 We hope this tuition rate will allow more families to participate and comfortably contribute to the costs of the production.
If your family could use some extra help covering the cost of Youth Company, we invite you to apply for financial aid! Our financial aid program is made possible through the generosity of SCT donors—we’re so grateful for their support in helping make theatre accessible to everyone.
Families can request payment plans for their tuition by reaching out to dramaschool@sct.org at the time of registration. All payments must be completed by May 1, 2027.
Each tuition includes three complimentary tickets to one performance during the run of the production. Complimentary tickets must be used in this same performance.
Public tickets are $18 each.
SCT is committed to making live theatre accessible to all. Our Pay-What-You-Wish (PWYW) performances offer free or low-cost tickets to young people, families, educators, and arts collaborators—because the cost of a ticket should never be a barrier to experiencing the joy of theatre.
