Arts Based Learning

Now entering the fourth year of partnership between SCT and Kaiser Permanente, the Arts Based Learning program (ABL) has visited over 67,000 students and 3,425 Teachers statewide.  The Arts Based Learning program consists of touring productions, in class residencies, workshops, and professional development opportunities for teachers and students alike, all free to qualifying schools. All of our programming is designed to inspire children, teens and adults to make informed decisions about their health and build stronger communities.

During the 2020-2021 school year, all ABL programming will be offered through an online platform. We look forward to sharing a virtual production of our high school play Ghosted, which includes an interactive talk-back about anxiety and depression designed to strengthen students’ social-emotional resiliency. We will also continue to support our region’s educators with a virtual version of Resilience in School Environments: Understanding and Practice (RISE UP), a learning session that models trauma-sensitive strategies for interacting with students in both online and on-site classroom settings.
