Public Programs

Building a strong, diverse, family-friendly community is of utmost importance to us at SCT. We invite you to join us for the following Public Programs, free of charge, and full of fun!

presented by Parachute players

Parachute Players is a North King County-based performance group dedicated to producing immersive, multi-sensory theatrical experiences for the very young and young people with disabilities with the foundational assumption that ALL young people need and deserve equitable access to quality arts experiences. Their performance model is based on very low actor to audience member ratios, incorporating visual schedules, social stories, some ASL, and other physical and sensory accommodations, and always providing multiple means of engagement. Parachute Players is led by Director Maddie Napel, under the fiscal sponsorship and mentorship of Dandylyon Drama.

Parachute Players’ Polka Dots is a sensory theatre experience for young audiences with disabilities and their teachers, families, and caretakers. This 50 minute adventure premiered in May 2019 at the Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center in Shoreline to outstanding reviews from young people, parents, guardians, and educators.

“Really great idea and we can’t wait to come to another show. Thank you so much for creating a place where my daughter can learn to appreciate arts, while being complete inclusive and adaptive to everyone who attends.”
 – Parent of an Audience Member

“As a teacher it is exciting to see how children engage with others and I am able to use some of the same strategies in my classroom.”
–Special Educator, Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center

“The Parachute Players introduced new ways of communicating with each other. Teachers are able to reference how the Baker used noises and body language to communicate and every performer used their hands to communicate as well.”
–Special Educator, Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center

On Saturday, February 8 at 2pm, join us for a public performance of Polka Dots. BUY TICKETS

Post-Show Discussions

Following every performance at SCT, we invite the audience to join us for a post-show conversation about the show. This is a great time for audience members of all ages to ask their burning questions about the performance they just saw, or what it’s like behind the scenes at SCT, or just to make some fun observations and make new friends.
