Young Actor Institute

Young Actor Institute (Ages 14-18)

Fall Session

Dates: Saturdays; September 24-November 5

Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Location: Seattle Children’s Theatre

Tuition $530

Young Actor Institute is Seattle Children’s Theatre’s highest level of actor training, preparing students for the world of professional theatre. Students must submit an audition video to attend. This provides in-depth classes in a variety of specialized performing arts disciplines, taught by professional Seattle working artists. This cohort of selected students intensively train for eight sessions, three hours each day, to explore their own identity as performers. YAI faculty work together to develop an integrated curriculum that challenges and supports each student through a daily session in Movement, Voice and Diction, and Scene Study. The program culminates in a studio showcase on the last day of class for families and friends to see!

Showcase

The showcase will take place at Seattle Children’s Theatre Eve Alvord Theater on Saturday, November 5 Time TBA.

Financial Assistance

SCT is committed to providing theatre and theatre education to all children regardless of a family’s financial situation. Because of this, we offer payment plans and need-based scholarships to our families. In addition, we offer Blue Star military and veteran discounts.

Scholarships are granted on a case-by-case basis to those families who demonstrate a financial need, and who would be otherwise unable to participate in our classes. Because of budget limitations, we are generally only able to cover one class per student, per session in each eligible family. Applications for scholarships are on a rolling basis, but scholarships are limited so please submit your application as early as possible. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified of your financial aid decision approximately one week after submitting your application. Unless prior arrangements are made with the Drama School, the remaining balance of tuition, if any, must be paid in full prior to the start of class.

Applications accepted on a rolling basis, subject to availability. Click here to view the application.

Payment Plans may be used by anyone, regardless of financial need. This option is available to families who prefer to split their balance into two or three installments. No application is required; if you would like to arrange a payment plan, email the Drama School at dramaschool@sct.org. Unless prior arrangements are made with the Drama School, the balance of tuition, if any, must be paid in full prior to the start of class.
