Young Actor Institute

Hosted by the University of Washington
Grade 10 – Age 21

Young Actor Institute is SCT’s highest level of actor training, preparing students for the vibrant, challenging world of professional theatre. YAI allows students to dive in to immersive, in-depth classes in a variety of performing arts disciplines, taught by professional artists. The rigorous schedule of training (five days a week for six weeks), is uniquely designed to build the necessary stamina, endurance, and concentration that are so essential in their chosen fields.

YAI faculty work together to develop an integrated curriculum that challenges and supports each student in the program. Classes include Acting, Scene Study, Voice for the Actor, Movement for e Actor, Stage Combat, Singing for the Theatre, Dance for the Theatre, Improvisation and Audition Technique. The program culminates in a studio showcase for families, friends, and the SCT community to see performances of work from each class.
