Deaf Youth Drama Program (DYDP)
On June 30, 2007, the Deaf Youth Drama Program closed it’s doors for good.
Seattle Children's Theatre's Deaf Youth Drama Program was founded by brothers Howie and Billy Seago in 1993. DYDP offered a safe, comfortable environment where deaf and hard-of-hearing children could learn about theatre and literature in their native language (ASL), while building their self-esteem and interpersonal skills. DYDP introduced children, who may have little or no experience beyond their hearing family and schools, to the Deaf culture through their interactions with Deaf artists, volunteers, and peers from other schools. The program served over 3,000 students each year.
Seattle Children's Theatre is committed to providing quality theatre
experiences for all the communities we serve. If you are a Deaf
student please email us at dramaschool@sct.org
and we will do our best to find the right class for you.
