The perfect cross between High School Musical and Hamlet, this tale of betrayal, revenge, and insanity is a funny, kind-hearted skewering of both the pop culture phenomena and the foibles of theatre.
All is rotten in the state of North High. The Drama Club has started rehearsing Hamlet and their director, Helen, disappears. Now that Claudia has taken over Helen’s job (and boyfriend Gary), Haley, Helen’s sister, wants out too. But when Haley hears that Helen is really up in the fly loft, not building houses for poor kids in Nicaragua, things get really interesting. It seems that Helen caught Claudia and Gary in a compromising situation that Claudia turned to her own advantage, making it appear that Helen wanted to dump Gary and resign from the Drama Club. Oh vile treachery!
The plan is hatched—Haley will feign love for Phil (her HSM co-star and the school jock), act a little crazy, and hopefully catch Claudia in her lies. Once the truth is out, we see poor Phil flounder on the courts, losing the basketball game all for want of Haley’s affections. Now, ‘tis time to give Claudia her comeuppance. The Club members return to auditions, where Helen emerges telling the whole sordid tale. They cast a vote of no-confidence, and Claudia is out. Revenge has never been so sweet.
