Volunteers
Volunteering at Seattle Children's Theatre can be fun, rewarding, and educational. By volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to learn all about the world of live theatre—from the writing, designing, and directing of our plays to the front of house and administrative functions of SCT. We look forward to having you join the SCT family as a member of the SCT Supporters!
To sign up to join the SCT Supporters contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Tammy Hase.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Gift Shop Supporters
Open to volunteers 16 years of age or older, as a Gift Shop Supporter you help manage the Stage Door Store on the day you choose to volunteer. Duties include sale of merchandise, ringing in refunds and discounts on the cash register, assisting customers, and maintaining the shop. Each shift is approximately 4 hours.
Ushers
Open to volunteers 8 years of age or older who are accompanied by a parent or guardian, Usher duties include any of the following: stuffing and passing out programs, light cleaning of the theatre, ticket taking, stage watching, assisting at concession stands, and watching the gift shop. Each shift is approximately 3 hours.
School Show Ushers
This position is an option for volunteers 18 years of age or older. Please note: You must be available Thursdays either during the morning (starting at about 9am) or during the afternoon (starting at about 11:30am). It is possible to usher only once a month. Usher duties for these performances include: leading and seating groups according to the seating chart, stuffing and grouping programs to be given out at the end of the performance, light cleaning of the theatre, stage watching, and possibly selling a small selection of gift items. Ushers may see a show during their shift if seating is available. Each shift is approximately 2 ½ hours.
Stage Walkers
Volunteers are needed at technical rehearsals, usually on a Thursday night from 7-10pm. The lighting designer and director need to see how "live" people look under the lights. Stage Walkers meet the directors and designers and pose on the set as different characters from the play.
Classroom Assistants
Open to volunteers 16 years of age or older, Assistants help the teacher in class with everything from administrative support to leading warm-up exercises. Classes typically meet for 90 minutes, once-a-week, for eleven weeks.
Administrative
Many projects in our marketing and development departments require very little time commitment and are flexible in nature. Typically, Administrative Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and are needed during the work week. Projects subject to availability and skill set.
Outreach, Special Events & Birthday Parties
Outreach Volunteers represent SCT at fairs and conferences in the community. They help to set up booths, distribute brochures, lead activities, and answer questions about Seattle Children's Theatre. They often receive the benefit of attending the event they are working, such as the Kids Fair or a Discover Music concert at the Seattle Symphony. Scheduling for these events happens on an as-needed basis.
Special Events Volunteers assist with fund raising events and functions for our donors. They often get the chance to attend the function they are helping with, such as a drama workshop or a read-through of a script. Scheduling for these events is on an as-needed basis. Volunteer at birthday parties and assist with greeting and set up, and you may receive the benefit of attending a show.
