Tim Jennings, Managing Director
Tim Jennings Tim joined SCT in the summer of 2008, after spending 8 years as Managing Director of Roseneath Theatre in Toronto, Canada. At Roseneath, he managed one of Canada’s largest creators of new work for young audiences and, together with Artistic Director and Playwright David S. Craig, were nominated for over 15 Dora Awards (Canada’s Tony) - winning 6 - as well as receiving 2 Canada Council for the Arts Prizes. Tim started in theatre at 16 by putting himself through school as a rigger with the theatre union, and at 18 became the youngest professional Production Manager in Canada. Tim’s career went on to include working in theatre management for such notable companies as The Canadian Stage Company, The Canadian Opera Company, Ainsworth Production – SkyDome and Theatre Passe Muraille. Prior to joining Roseneath, Tim oversaw the creation and implementation of the River Run Centre’s (Guelph, Ontario) theatrical infrastructure – creating the most technically sophisticated under-1000-seat theatre venue in Canada. He has worked as a professor of theatre production and management at both the Ryerson University (Toronto) and Humber College Theatre Programs (Toronto). Tim currently serves as the membership chair for International Performing Arts for Youth (IPAY) and, in 2007, was nominated as the Canadian Artist Manager of the Year (CAPACOA). Tim has spent his career working to help artists remove roadblocks to the realization of excellence. He is thrilled to find, in SCT, a company of like mindset. Tim would like to thank his parents, his son Zach, and (most importantly) his wife and life partner, Truly Carmichael, for their support and encouragement. “Where else, in all the world, can you make magic every day. I love my job. Seattle is so lucky to have a flagship theatre like SCT, and I feel very lucky to be here. Thank you all!”
