Where the Wild Things Are

Seattle Children’s Theatre presents Where the Wild Things Are
Based on the book by Maurice Sendak, A Presentation House Production
Directed by Kim Selody, Artistic Director, Presentation House Theatre
Originally adapted for the stage by TAG Theatre Glasgow, Scotland

Sail along with Max to the land of the Wild Things. This award-winning, internationally acclaimed production from Vancouver's Presentation House Theatre is an intimate "guided play" experience for ages 3 to 7. Adapted from the timeless classic, the audience helps to transform Max's bedroom into the various landscapes of his adventures. The audience then becomes the Wild Things as they are each given a mask and encouraged to "let the Wild Rumpus begin!" With the leadership of the performers, the audience also helps bring Max safely home. This highly interactive production has toured all over the world and now Seattle families will have the opportunity to be part of this special show.

For families who enjoyed If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Dot & Ziggy, and Adventures with Spot.

Age Recommendation: For Ages 4+

More about this unique performance:

There are two places for the audience to sit for Where the Wild Things Are, a participatory area and a regular seating area.  Due to the nature of this production, the seating capacity has also been reduced for each performance.

The participatory seating area is on the floor on “island mats” on three sides of the set.  150 seats are available and are recommended for ages 4-7.

The regular seating area is in the standard Eve Alvord bench seating.  The audience watches the performance from this area with less direct involvement in the participation of the play.  This area is recommended for adults, older/younger siblings or children, not wishing to participate for any reason, in the creative play guided by the artists on stage.
