The Green Sheep

An interactive theatre experience designed for ages one to four, uaudience-favorite The Green Sheep returns to SCT!  The Green Sheep is a production of Windmill Performing Arts from Australia and will be directed by Windmill’s Creative Producer Cate Fowler. The Green Sheep is based on Mem Fox’s and Judy Horacek’s book “Where is the Green Sheep?” The play incorporates music, movement, and puppetry to lead toddlers and parents on a search for the elusive green sheep. There’s the near sheep and the far sheep, the moon sheep and the star sheep, but where is the green sheep? Throughout, the audience is seated within a sheep pen placed on the Charlotte Martin stage, with the action playing out on all sides.

“This lovely, lively, and imaginative piece is perfect for the little ones,” says SCT Artistic Director Linda Hartzell. “Through clever, active staging we introduce this special audience to theatre.”

The cast of The Green Sheep returns from SCT’s summer 2007 production and will have just completed a September run at New York’s New Victory Theatre. The Green Sheep’s ensemble includes Connor Toms, Morgan Rowe and musician Matt Johnston (Michaela Koerner is the understudy), with Sarah S. Mixson as the very visible and involved Stage Manager. The production team also includes lighting design by SCT Production Manager Michael Wellborn.
