Pharaoh Serket and the Lost Stone of Fire

Seattle Children’s Theatre is excited to team up with ACT Artistic Director Kurt Beattie for the world premiere of John Olive’s Pharaoh Serket and the Lost Stone of Fire. While Beattie has worked with SCT in the past, penning adaptations of Pinnochio and The Prince and the Pauper in SCT’s early days and co-writing The Odyssey with Greg Falls in 1997, this will be his first time directing a show for SCT. "John Olive's Pharaoh Serket is a cracking good adventure story, and a great first tour of ancient Egypt's Middle Kingdom,” says Beattie. “I'm having a wonderful time working on it."

Pharaoh Serket and the Lost Stone of Fire was written by Olive on commission for SCT. In Pharaoh, the mysterious Zalira and sneeze-afflicted palace scribe, Bakneb, must aid the young and spoiled Pharaoh Serket if he is to escape death at the hands of his ever-present enemies. Together they journey deep into the desert to find the Lost Stone of Fire, a gem so mystical it is believed to grant its owner immortality. However, Serket’s quest brings him a treasure even greater.
